Beijing DB11/T 2382-2024 consumption standard: quantity rules for cast-in-place concrete columns and the setting of column heights (including constructional columns, corbels, concrete-filled steel tube columns, raking columns and core columns)

Per DB11/T 2382-2024 Construction Works Consumption Quota Standard, clause 4.6.6 item 3: cast-in-place concrete columns are computed by volume (m3) at design-shown dimensions, without deducting the volume of rebar and embedded parts. Column heights - beam-and-slab columns from the column base top (or slab top) to the next floor slab top; flat-slab (beamless) columns to the column capital soffit; frame columns from base top to column top; constructional columns from the top of their rooting member to the soffit of their anchoring member, with the wall-toothing part merged into the column body. Corbels attached to columns merge into the column volume; concrete-filled steel tube columns are computed on the internal section area of the tube times the design-shown tube height; raking columns on the column section area times the design-shown inclined centreline length; core columns on the hole section area times the design-shown height.

Topic Positioning

A reading of clause 4.6.6 item 3 of chapter 4 (building and decoration works), section 4.6 (concrete and reinforced concrete works) of the Beijing local standard DB11/T 2382-2024 Construction Works Consumption Quota Standard: the measurement basis and height setting for cast-in-place concrete column quantities, with the general deductions of item 1 of the same clause. For checking quantities when building up rates and reviewing final accounts under this standard in Beijing.

Core Conclusions

1. Basic measurement of columns (clause 4.6.6 item 3, original wording) "3 Cast-in-place concrete columns shall be computed by volume at design-shown dimensions, without deducting the volume of rebar and embedded parts in the member, and shall comply:

  1. Column height: columns under beam-and-slab floors are computed from the column base top (or slab top) to the top of the next floor slab; columns under flat-slab (beamless) floors from the column base top (or slab top) to the soffit of the column capital; frame columns from the column base top to the column top; constructional columns from the top of their rooting member to the soffit of their anchoring member, the wall-toothing part (ma-ya-cha raking tooths) merging into the column body;
  2. Corbels attached to columns merge into the column body volume;
  3. Concrete-filled steel tube columns are computed by volume on the internal section area of the tube times the design-shown tube height;
  4. Raking columns are computed by volume on the column section area times the design-shown inclined centreline length of the column;
  5. Core columns are computed by volume on the hole section area times the design-shown height."

2. Quick reference of column heights (column type - height bounds - merged items)

  • Columns under beam-and-slab floors: column base top (or slab top) -> next floor slab top;
  • Columns under flat-slab floors: column base top (or slab top) -> column capital soffit; the capital does not stay in the column - clause 4.6.6 item 6: "column capitals of flat-slab floors merge into the slab";
  • Frame columns: column base top -> column top;
  • Constructional columns: top of the rooting member -> soffit of the anchoring member; the wall-toothing part merges into the column body;
  • Concrete-filled steel tube columns: on the INTERNAL section area of the tube x design-shown tube height (not the tube OD or envelope volume);
  • Raking columns: column section area x design-shown INCLINED centreline length (not the vertical projection);
  • Core columns: hole section area x design-shown height;
  • Corbels: corbels attached to columns merge into the column body volume. Unit m3; the basis is "computed by volume at design-shown dimensions" (from the drawings, not from as-built sizes).

3. General deductions (clause 4.6.6 item 1, original wording; applies to columns too) "1 Unless otherwise provided, cast-in-place concrete is computed by volume at design-shown dimensions. The volume of rebar, embedded parts, bolts and individual holes of area not exceeding 0.30 m2 is not deducted; in steel-concrete composite frame structures, the volume of the structural steel is deducted at 0.127 m3 of concrete per tonne of steel." That is: rebar, embedded parts, bolts and holes of individual area 0.30 m2 or less in columns are never deducted; only the structural steel of steel-concrete composite frames is converted at "0.127 m3 of concrete per tonne of steel".

4. Neighbouring rules to check in passing

  • 4.6.4: among precast concrete members, balconies and AC slabs integral with external wall panels follow the external wall panel items; those not integral follow their own items.
  • 4.6.5 item 3: rebar installation items are determined on cast-in-place practice; for rebar installation at precast member joints, the labour consumption is preferably multiplied by 1.15.

Applicability Boundaries

  • This card is the Beijing pricing (quota) basis, for works priced under DB11/T 2382-2024; under other provincial standards or sector standards (railway building quota TB/T 10831-2024, Shenzhen SJG series etc.) follow their own texts - do not transplant.
  • Measurement is by design-shown dimensions; parts built beyond design without variation or certified-record support are not measured.
  • This card covers only measurement of the column proper and its height setting, not the interface attribution between columns and adjacent members (walls, slabs, beams) - check those under the corresponding clauses of the section; nor the bill basis (bill quantities and quota quantities run on separate tracks - do not mix).
  • Clause wording and figures follow the published DB11/T 2382-2024 text; re-check clause numbers and values after any revision.
